Why Nigerian football chief is under FIFA investigation

The word football governing body FIFA have confirmed that Nigeria football chief, Amos Adamu is under investigation by the body’s investigatory Chamber of the independent Ethics Committee.

The 62-year-old was a FIFA ex­ecutive committee, from 2006-2010 before he was banned from all football related activities of receiving brides for World Cup hosting right votes.

FIFA have been deep in corruption crisis which has led to the suspension of the president, Sepp Platter and UEFA chief Michel Platini.

Adamu is among the six names identified for alleged in­fringements of the FIFA Code of Ethics on Wednesday, October 21.

The other officials men­tioned are Worawi Maku­di, Jeffery Webb, Ricardo Teixra, Eugenio Figeredo and Nicolas Leoz.

”Formal investigation proceedings relating to the suspicion of infringements of the FIFA Code of Ethics are amongst others ongo­ing against Worawi Makudi, Jeffrey Webb, Ricardo Teix­eira, Amos Adamu, Eugen­io Figueredo and Nicolás Leoz,´ A FIFA statement reads.

Proceedings relating to the two officials Ángel María Villar Llona and Franz Beckenbauer have already been passed on to the adjudicatory chamber.
