Amla frustrated as South Africa's away run ends
Hashim Amla conceded South Africa had not adjusted to the conditions in Nagpur as India sealed the Test series with a 124-run victory on Friday.
After being bowled out for just 79 in the first innings, the Proteas faced an uphill challenge on a turning wicket as they were set an unlikely 310 to win by Virat Kohli's side.
The tourists resumed day three on 32-2 and despite Amla and Faf du Plessis (both 39) showing some resistance, they were bowled out for 185 as Ravichandran Ashwin took 7-66.
Victory hands India an unassailable 2-0 lead with one game to play, leaving Amla's side to reflect on their first series defeat overseas in more than nine years.
"Obviously [it is] very disappointing," he said in his post-match interview. "It was a tough match, we tried our best.
"The idea is when you win or lose you try to do it as honourably as possible, and I think the way the guys fought towards the end of today, I can only say well done to the guys.
"To be honest we could have got bowled for a hundred here [second innings] because there was a lot of plays and misses, and chances that could have gone to hand.
"We tried to dig deep as long as we could."
