Dave Allen's homecoming to Doncaster will see him face off against former Olympian Filip Hrgovic. One of the British heavyweight scene's fan favorites, Dave Allen, has inked a new deal with Matchroom Boxing, set to kick off with a bout against Filip Hrgovic on May 16th in Doncaster.

This fight marks a significant step up in competition for Allen (25-8-2, 20 KO). Following two encounters with Johnny Fisher, where he first suffered a controversial decision loss before stopping "The Romford Bull" in the fifth round, his performance against Arslanbek Makhmudov was less convincing. In that bout, Allen lost momentum in the later rounds, allowing the Russian to secure a unanimous decision victory.

Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KO) may not have fully lived up to the high expectations placed upon him in professional boxing, but he has proven his effectiveness at this level. The Croatian has bounced back from a tough loss to Daniel Dubois with victories over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye.

"This is everything I've wanted. A big fight, at home, in front of my people. Nights like these don't come around often, and I won't let this opportunity slip away. I know how tough Hrgovic is, but I believe in myself and I'll be ready to give Doncaster an unforgettable night," Allen stated in a press release.
