Super Eagles captain says he can win CAF Player of the Year award

New captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa is convinced that he can win this year’s CAF Player of the Year award.

The CSKA forward is included in the list nominations’ list which was recently released alongside former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama.

Musa also believes that Enyeama can win the award.

“I believe either myself or Vincent Enyeama can win the award this time around. We deserve the nomination and I think we are good enough to win it for Nigeria,” Musa told AfricanFootball.com.

“I am happy to be nominated for the African Footballer of the Year award again. It’s a good thing when one gets such recognition because Africa is blessed with lots of good players.”

It is the third straight year Ahmed Musa has been nominated for the award.

Enyeama and Musa are hoping to become the first Nigerian winner for the first time since Kanu Nwankwo, who won the award in 1999.

Yaya Toure who is the winner of the past four editions, first won the gong in 2011 and  is favourite for a fifth award.

Other popular players in the list include,  Andre Ayew, Aymen Abdennour, Riyad Mahrez, Rudy Gestede, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
