'The Anatomy of Reality: A Refugee’s dilemma' by Ahmad Abdullah
Humanity is not so complex; it has a consistent simplistic narrative.
The Anatomy of Reality: A Refugee’s dilemma by Ahmad Abdullah
I am human like you foremost
With dreams and needs
We were both born
And we will both die.
We will both be afflicted by hunger
Whether you have a silver spoon
Or I a wooden spoon
We will have cried
At one point in our lives
As much as geography may never permit
For our paths to cross
We will both find peace
As long as you see my skin
Or my gender
Not as a disease
If we excise the profane
From the language of our existence
We are a mixture of mud and water
Intoxicated in the opium of reality
Perhaps the day shall arrive
That you shall seek refuge from your fears
Within the expanse of my rigidness
Perhaps I may seek beyond
What nature gifts me of succor
Within the rigidity of your generosity
The grave is within the earth
Like the heart is within the chest
And someday nature will deprive you
I of you
Or you of I
