Ex-Super Eagles coach celebrates 80th birthday with NFF

Coach Adegboye Onigbinde, who led the Super Eagles to the 2002 FIFA World Cup, is celebrating his 80th birthday with the NFF.

Onigbinde was given birth to on the 5 of March 1938 was Celebrated by Nigeria’s football body as he marked his 80th birthday.

The NFF Posted  on its official Twitter account to congratulate the veteran coach  with a message which read, “Happy 80th birthday to former @NGSuperEagles Coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde”

According to the Onigbinde was celebrated at the launch of the Western Nigeria Football Forum, where he was presented with a surprise gift.

He was given a celebratory cake which he cut on stage together with NFF President , NFF 1st Vice President Bar. Seyi Akinwunmi while those in attendance at the occasion sang for him.

The celebrant was delighted with him being honoured and according to the NFF he said,  “I am pleasantly surprised by this. I thank everyone who made this happen and I pray that Nigerian Football will continue to grow from strength to strength.”

Onigbinde was coach of the Super Eagles between 1981 and 1984, and returned for a second spell when he led Nigeria to the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
