2019: 403,428 PVCs unclaimed in Niger

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 403,428 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have yet to be claimed in Niger State.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Prof. Samuel Egwu, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Friday.

He said that about 33, 292 PVCs were not collected in 2017 , 235,977 unclaimed in 2018,  and 129,000 not collected from 2011 to 2015.

Egwu appealed to registered voters in the state to collect their PVCs at the commission offices in the 25 local government areas.

He said that one would not be able to vote without acquiring the PVC.

The official solicited the support of leaders of political parties and other stakeholders in mobilising residents to collect their PVCs.

He also appealed to the mass media to complement the efforts of the commission in sensitising Nigerians to the importance of PVC.

“You can only participate in electing leaders of your choice through the use of permanent voter card,” he said.
