Croatia coach sends spies to watch Super Eagles against Serbia

Nigeria and Croatia are drawn in group D of the 2018 FIFA World Cup alongside Iceland and Argentina.

The Super Eagles meet Croatia in their opening group game of the tournament and the Croatians are already making moves ahead of the encounter.

The Super Eagles on Friday, March 23 grinded out a gritty 1-0 win against Poland a game which was monitored by the Croatians.

Head Coach of Croatia’s team Zlatko Dalić confirmed that he has sent out spies to monitor the Eagles against Serbia in an interview with Croatian sports daily Sportske Novosti.

He said, "At the same time Nikola Jerkan will follow Argentina playing with Italy and Spain, while Ognjen Vukojević will watch Nigerians against Poland and Serbia."

Dalic also confirmed that other Super Eagles group opponents (Argentina, Iceland) will be monitored after they play a friendly match against Brazil.

“Yes, Ladić goes to America. I needed a man who would monitor Iceland’s game, Ivica Olić would probably look at the other game,’’ Dalic said

The 51-year-old tactician stated that the essence of monitoring their opponent's games is to derive relevant information that will help the team at the World Cup.

"We will collect all relevant information about the rivals from the group.’’ Dalic said

Both Croatia and Iceland lost their last friendly matches against Peru and Mexico respectively.

The Super Eagles will take on Serbia on Tuesday, March 27 same day group D opponents Argentina take on Spain, while Mexico takes on Croatia and Iceland face Peru.

Nigeria will take on Croatia in their World Cup opener on Saturday, June 16.
