Injuries are dampening the joyous mood in the Flying Eagles squad despite their victories in their two opening matches.
Several Flying Eagles stars including star striker Taiwo Awoniyi are now on the treatment table after their toiling encounter with Congo on Wednesday.
Already the tournament's leading scorer with three goals, Awoniyi is nursing a right knee complaint and has been excused from training, while Ifeanyi Ifeanyi needed three stitches on his head.
Bernard Bulbwa is nursing a shoulder injury and Ifeanyi Matthew, who has scored twice at the 2015 African U-20 Championship, has a thigh problem.
The team doctor, Ozi Salami is however optimistic that the players will make the squad for their last Group A encouter with Cote d'Ivoire.
“They could all be available for the match against Cote d’Ivoire on Saturday but we will take some precautions before then,” doctor Ozi Salami.said.
First-choice goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo is set to miss Saturday’s game against Cote d’Ivoire after he was sent off for a professional foul against Congo on Wednesday.
They will face Cote d’Ivoire in a final Group A match on Saturday in Mbour to determine the overall leaders of the group phase.
