Love is never too late as 102-year-old and a 100-year-old marry in retirement home
A senior couple from Philadelphia proves that love knows no age limits. Marjorie, at age 102, and Bernie, who had just celebrated his 100th birthday, married in late May at a nursing home.
Fox News reports that the couple met 10 years ago. They didn't fall in love immediately. Their first date was the same day that one of Bernie's great-granddaughters was born.
Bernie's granddaughter said the family was "excited" to learn their great-grandfather had found a "companion to spend time with."
"They were very lucky to have found each other," Bernie's granddaughter told Fox News.
They supported each other especially during the pandemic.
Bernie Littman, who was previously married for 65 years, surprised his family with his decision to remarry after the death of his first wife. Marjorie, whose husband died in 1999, also had no plans to remarry.
Rabbi Adam Wohlberg, who watched their relationship develop, admitted that the couple eventually came to the conclusion that "being not only close friends, but also husband and wife seemed like the right thing to do."
During the ceremony, the rabbi revealed that although the couple fell in love only in the retirement home, their paths had crossed several decades earlier. They were both students at the University of Pennsylvania, although they probably had not met in person.
