Real Madrid star becomes first footballer to hit 100 million followers on Instagram

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo continues to show that he is the biggest footballer in the world by becoming the first to reach 100 million followers on Instagram.

Ronaldo as at the time of this report has 100 million followers and following just 364 accounts.

He leads the park when it comes to Instagram following for football stars with the closest Neymar with 74 million followers.

Lionel Messi who is usually neck and neck with Ronaldo is third here with almost 71 million followers.

In June 2016, a study by Hookit revealed that the 32-year-old generated $36m in value for Nike on social media alone via his own accounts through 59 posts in 12 months.

All of Ronaldo's partners got a total of $176 million in media value from his promotional work on social platforms.

Ronaldo uses social media often to promote his own line of products with CR7 Footwear, ROC headphones  and Sacoor Brothers.
