As highlighted by the daily Il Messaggero, the man, who used a different name each time, became a terror for hoteliers in northern Italy, especially in Alto Adige and Lake Garda.

He changed his identity, but not his modus operandi. He presented himself everywhere as a manager of international companies, famous Italian fashion houses and automotive concerns.

He booked a room in luxury hotels by phone, drove up in an expensive rented car and was always without luggage, only a few personal items in plastic bags. Always preoccupied and absorbed in telephone conversations, he suddenly disappeared without paying the bill.

His frauds became public, thanks to which the injured hoteliers united their efforts to create the image of the fraudster and then identify him. Their vigilance led to the discovery of the alleged manager, whom the maid was the first to suspect when she saw his empty room. At the reception he admitted that he did not have money to pay the bill.

Carabinieri called to the hotel let him go. No preventive measure can be applied to him until he is convicted. The only option used in this situation was a ban on entry to 32 communes, issued by local authorities.
