If you use Instagram on an Android device, the feature will let you like, comment and even follow or unfollow an account without an Internet connection. The next time you access the internet, Instagram will go back through that history and carry out those actions one after the other.

Instagram will also cache certain parts of the app (such as the Explore Tab and accounts you regularly interact with) so you aren’t staring at a blank screen when you don’t have an Internet connection, The Verge reports.

Facebook says it is implementing features that make Instagram more offline-friendly to improve the experience of users in countries where the internet is either unreliable or steady access to the internet is limited.

Techcrunch reports that an iOS version of the offline feature could be in the works or launch shortly after the rollout of the feature on Android.

That’s telling especially as Instagram has recorded unprecedented growth outside the US. The feature is not available in Nigeria yet, but you can expect the update in a few weeks. Even more reason to check out more Instagram models. :)
