Police warn vandals to stop destroying oil pipelines

Muazu urged residents of the area to be vigilant while condemning the vandals who caused pipeline explosion in Ijegun.

Speaking at the scene of the pipeline explosion, Muazu urged residents of the area to be vigilant while condemning the vandals who caused the explosion.

He said, “I sincerely sympathise with the victims of explosion but I must warn all intending vandals to beware of further action as strict surveillance will be ensured.”

The police boss also condemned the the gas station situated beside the pipeline.

Recall that in the early hours of Thursday, June 2019, an oil pipeline exploded in the Ijegun area of Lagos State and according to LASEMA tow persons died while 30 vehicles were also burnt.

The agency said the explosion was caused by vandals who were engaged in illegal bunkering activities at Fire Junction, Ijegun, within the vicinity where pipelines of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) were buried.
