Network of ECOWAS Health Communication Specialists established

The network, includes communication specialists from the Ministries of Health, online health journalists and columnists from the WAHO’s 15 member states.

The announcement came after a two day meeting which took place in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire last Tuesday.

The establishment of the network, follows recommendations made at an earlier meeting involving the members which took place in Ouagadougou, December 2015.

While serving as health communication persons in their respective countries, members  of the network will support the ECOWAS health organization to expand the visibility of its regular public health interventions.

Dr Xavier Crespin, director General of WAHO expressed optimism about the network adding that he has been impressed about activities this far following the first meeting.

Mr. Traore Moctar, head of communication at the WAHO thanked all for the commitment to realize the formation of the network and charged all the members deliver as pledged. He asked for a selfless commitment to uplift the image of the organization and to promote the health of the people in the region

Members of the network currently includes representatives from Ghana, Togo, Benin, Mali,The Gambia,Liberia, Guinea Bissau, Cote Divoire, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone with its elected president from Senegal.
