Ikwerre youths dismiss corruption allegations against minister

Two justices had earlier alleged that Amaechi spoke to them, on different occasions, to influence judgements.

Justices Okoro Inyang and Sylvester Ngwutahad alleged that Amaechi spoke to them, on different occasions, to influence judgements of two different elections.

According to the group’s representatives, Chikere Wanjoku, Tony Okocha and Lucky Worluh, the allegation against the minister is an attempt to paint him black.

They also called on the judges to explain to the Department of State Services (DSS), how they got the large sums of money allegedly found in their homes.

The IYM, in a statement said “We are mindful of the fact the attacks on the Mr. Chibuike Amaechi is a well choreographed attempt by mischief makers using the two judges to paint the minister in unpalatable social colours having failed to stop his nomination, clearance and subsequent swearing in as a minister.

“We make bold to say that all their allegations bear marks of their paymasters who are hiding under the immunity clause to do all within their powers to politicise the issues of corruption levelled against the justices.“

In a related development, the Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Rotimi Amaechi to resign following the allegations of corruption against him.
