The vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, is presiding over a meeting of the Economic Management Team over the new national minimum wage.

This is the second time they will be having a meeting on the subject this week having met on Monday, October 29, 2018.

Osinbajo presided over the meeting that took place at the presidential villa on Wednesday.

The federal government is hoping to maintain the initial proposal it made on N24,000 as minimum wage.

Present at the meeting were the minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, Minister of Finance Zainab Ahmed, Minister of Budget and planning, Udoma Udoma and the Secretary to the federation, Boss Mustapha.

The meeting comes after Ngige disclosed that the federal government rejects the N22,000 proposed by governors.
