Former Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Issa Aremu, has called for the resignation of governors who cannot pay workers' 18,000 Naira minimum wage.

He said the state governors threatening to stop the payment of the minimum wage should not remain in office because they do not have the capacity to lead the people.

Aremu stated this while speaking at the 18th Joint Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

In his address titled,  “Government Patronage of Made-In-Nigeria Products, A Panacea For Industrial Growth and Development”, he raised concerns about the alarming rate of unemployment in the country, noting that the issue must be tackled as soon as possible to avert imminent trouble.

Aremu also stated that Nigerians will judge the performance of the Muhammadu Buhari administration based on their ability to resuscitate the collapsed industries in the country and create more jobs.

While giving one of the major reasons for the collapse of the industries as lack of road infrastructure, the ex-NLC leader urged on the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, to make relentless efforts to reinvent the country's roads.
