The terrorists are said to have attacked the border town early on Friday, February 6, making Niger the third country to suffer from Boko Haram incursions.

Boko Haram militants are said to have attacked a community in Niger which is a neighbouring country to Nigeria.

Abba Hassan, a resident of the border town of Bosso, Niger told The Associated Press that the insurgents had that engaged soldiers in an hour-long battle and were eventually defeated.

"Niger and Chadian planes are conducting surveillance at the moment in town and troops on the ground are combing through the streets," Hassan said.
