According to the minister, Muhammad Bello, a material testing laboratory will soon be established, as a means to stop these disasters.

Speaking with Prof. Suleiman Karwai, the Managing Director of Ahmadu Bello University Consultancy Services, he referred to the recent collapse of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) building in Gwarinpa II District.

Bello said this could have been prevented with proper monitoring, and other preventive measures.

"I am sure you know that that building in Gwarinpa was not supervised by any of our agencies.

It was basically handled by the FHA under very lose corporate governance issues because I saw their preliminary report and as you all know, that builder was directed to stop work in March this year.

Unfortunately, he continued and because of the weakness in the system, nobody stopped him", he said.

The FCT minister also said the presence of a material testing laboratory would ensure that the absence of building collapses.
