1 reportedly killed as IPOB, police clash in Anambra

Speaking to newsmen, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mrs. Nkeiru Nwode denied reports of the death.

According to eyewitness reports, the security operatives seized caps, flags and T-shirts of IPOB members, who were waiting for their leader.

Reports say the Biafra supporters, who were angered by the action of the security men, tried to retaliate, causing the operatives to shoot at them.

According to Vanguard, there was heavy presence of a combined team of Army, Navy and Police personnel, following reports that IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu was slated to visit Ekwulobia.

Speaking to newsmen, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mrs. Nkeiru Nwode denied reports of the death.

Nwode also said that the security operatives were on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

She said “The presence of the security men was to secure the place from being attacked by hoodlums. People should not take laws into their hands; the security operatives in Anambra are working day and night to secure the environment and are not ready to allow miscreants take over the society.”

Meanwhile, the Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has threatened to cause violence if Nnamdi Kanu is arrested.
