Dear Bukky
What's the point of a long distance relationship if you're not communicating regularly?
I still want to remain loyal to him but if he can stay for months without texting or calling, what do I do?

I have been dating my boyfriend for some years now. First we were both in Ghana and everything seemed right, then he had to travel outside the country to work. Since then his attitude has changed.
Unless he comes over to visit, he would never pick my call or reply my text, he would only send money for my upkeep.
He's supportive and shows care when he's around but he's a whole new person when he's away from me. It makes me feel ignored. This has gone on for some years now and we've talked about it but he won't change. I really love him, and we have a son.
A couple of times I get proposals from other men but I keep telling them I love only my man and they stop worrying me.
Although he’s not showing me any attention now that he's away, I still want to remain loyal to him but if he can stay for months without texting or calling, what do I do?___________
Dear reader,
I agree with you that communication is something that can’t be toyed with in every relationship.
This requirement becomes even particularly important in a relationship like yours where it is essentially the glue holding the relationship in place. If your boyfriend is slacking in that regard, it is perfectly understandable that you’d be bothered and concerned about where the relationship is headed.
I think the best thing you can do is to look for more ways to talk to your man about this, create more avenues to tell him how necessary it is that he stays in touch for the relationship to work.
This is not something an adult needs to be told, of course, but your partner sounds like one who just needs to be nudged in the right direction.
If he’s caring and does to you all the things you say he does, then he doesn’t sound like the type to discard without, at least, giving him a chance to make things work.
A relationship like yours needs constant, honest communication for it to withstand the test of distance. This, your partner needs to know.___________
