Best dressed women at the 90th Academy Awards

The Oscars are the hottest ticket in town and we look at the female celebrities that stole the show with their outfits.

Hosting duties

The Oscars returns for it's 90th year with Jimmy Kimmel at the helm. Kimmel, who hosted last year, is the first host to take up duties two years in a row in over a decade. Speaking on the honour, Kimmel said:

Hosting the Oscars was a highlight of my career and I am grateful to Cheryl [Boone Isaacs], Dawn [Hudson] and the Academy for asking me to return to work with two of my favourite people, Mike De Luca and Jennifer Todd.

If you think we screwed up the ending this year, wait until you see what we have planned for the 90th anniversary show!

No doubt Kimmel is referring to last year's blunder when an envelope mix-up initially (and mistakenly) resulted in "La La Land" being named the best picture winner over "Moonlight" at the 89th Academy Awards.

Sexual harassment takes centre stage

On a more sombre note, the Oscars, designed as a big advert for quintessential Hollywood glamour, will have to address systemic problem of sexual harassment in show business.

"We think we have figured out a way to do it all," said Jennifer Todd, one of the lead producers of the show. In other words, the show must go on but we look forward to seeing how such a delicate issue is addressed over the course of the entire show.

The show organisers, confirmed that 'Time's Up', the campaign to raise legal aid funds for victims of sexual assault, will have a presence at the ceremony. Following the Golden Globes and Baftas, there will be extra scrutiny on the red carpet as to which celebrities choose to wear black in solidarity with the movement.

Black-tie attire is recommended, but black gowns are optional this time around. The women behind the 'Time's Up' against sexual harassment aren't planning an organised demonstration prior to the Oscars, but organisers say there will be "moment" during the broadcast in recognition of the movement.
