5 breakout trends to watch out for from fashion month

After keeping a close eye on the runways this fashion month, we bring you the top 5 trends you need to try for yourself.

Be it a must-wear colour or a must-have accessory, fashion week is always a great indicator of whats to come, sartorially speaking. Keeping a close eye on the runway is useful when it comes to trend forecasting and getting ahead of the curve.

We have been through New York, London, Milan and now Paris, so we bring to you the top 5 breakout trends and how you can rock them!

1. Fringe

Spotted at Natasha Zinko, Jacquemus and Max Mara, it appears that fringe is the next big adornment to our wardrobes. Be it leather, suede or beading, we cannot get into of fringe swinging from everything from jeans, to jackets and even evening dresses. Think of '80s throwbacks and Western themes. Get ready to raid your parents' wardrobes again for this trend has made its way back around.

2. Orange

This colour trend stuck around from Spring 2018 and dominated the runways at New York Fashion Week. Although some may need a little convincing to try this colour, orange looks incredible against darker skin tomes and works well in warmer climates. Think less construction/sanitation worker aesthetic and more 'livin la vida loca' in the tropics.

3. NSF(Workwear)

It's workwear, but certainly not as you know it. At New York Fashion Week, work clothes were deconstructed and sexed up for a look that was certainly NSFW. Pantless suits? Off-the-shoulder blazers? Dion Lee, Jonathan Simkhai, and Alexander Wang (who actually held his show in a vacant office space) showed us that the designers of NYFW don’t know much about dressing for a corporate job but if we need a Saturday night outfit, they have definitely got us covered!

4.  Satin Dresses

Satin can be notoriously unforgiving but worn properly, the jewel toned fabric can look sensational. Forget the normal slip dresses, this movement is all about adding unexpected details into the clingy designs, like the black straps spotted at Jason Wu or the asymmetric skirt at Self-Portrait.

5. Plaid

This season was all about prints, prints and more prints and if one thing is clear, it's that plaid is here to stay. Versace, Michael Kors, Fendi and more featured the timeless pattern in their Fall/Winter 2018 collections, showing bold interpretations and top-to-toe looks sporting the checkered motif. Colourful and eye-catching, the pieces served straight Cher Horowitz from Clueless vibes and we’re all for it.
