The Nollywood actress came by our studio on Thursday, March 5, 2020, and we had a great time talking to her about her fashion and beauty.
The producer of the ‘skin’ documentary is an advocate of embarrassing the colour of your skin and celebrating it. Beverly Naya one of the few celebrities that’s passionate about colourism and she revealed the purpose behind the project.
According to her,
“The motivation is that I'm very passionate about the topic, colourism. At my young age, I was very affected by the negativity that I received and all the negative remarks.
“When I started to find my self-esteem, it became important to me to inspire young people to love themselves and appreciate themselves. If I could be the voice that gives young people the opportunity to see how worth and powerful they are; I could positively impact how they see themselves.
“I did some research and I realized that colourism is a big issue in Nigeria, so I did it.”
Beverly is one of the few actresses who isn’t afraid to show off her brown skin in every possible way and you can tell that her skin glows. We got the opportunity to ask about her skincare routine and here’s what she had to say;
“My skincare routine is quite simple. I just literally drink lots of water and lots of fruit as well, specifically oranges because they have a high level of citrus.
“It’s very good for the skin if you want to detox. I use cocoa butter, shea butter, and coconut oil. I wash and cleanse my face twice a day, it’s very important.”
One of the most attractive features of Beverly Naya is her full, long and healthy natural hair that she has been able to maintain for a very long time. She gave some of the tips that have helped over the years.
On maintaining her natural hair,
“I ensure my hair is washed regularly and give it protein treatment to keep the strand healthy and strong. Coconut oil and argan oil is fantastic for natural hair.
“Protective stylings are important. I wear wigs a lot, braids and I leave my hair cornrowed underneath”.
Beverly is one of the most stylish celebrities as she proved that at her hosting duties with ‘A Night with the stars’ hosted by Moet and Chandon.
On her style,
“My fashion style is sexy but classy. That has been my style for years so I love statement pieces.
“I love to stand out on red carpets and I love to look good. Everyday fashion is easy breezy like denim.”
On her favourite fashion moments in 2020,
“I’ve had quite a few. There's this Mazelle studio outfit that I wore recently, it was burnt orange and I wore it to the AMVCA cocktail party recently.”
We noticed Beverly loves to take it simple when it comes to makeup. She revealed that,
“One billion times nude over bold makeup because I realize that less is more.”
