Here's why you should be excited about Plus Size Fashion Week Africa

It's the plus size fashion event of the year featuring some of the best and most beautiful curvy babes and here's what you should be looking forward to.

The maiden edition of the PlusSize Fashion Week Africa took place on Saturday September 2, 2017 and it was an exciting day for the PlusSize community all over Africa.

The press conference started with an opening prayer. Then clips from past events put together by the PFWAFRICA team was highlighted including last year’s edition.

After which Yetty Ogunnubi (YD Agency) who was the host of the conference began by introducing the organisers of the PlusSize Fashion Week Africa.

The founder of PFWAFRICA, Temi Aboderin-Alao spoke about the journey so far, her vision for the event in subsequent years, the inspiration behind the theme #beautifullyme. she also encapsulated and did a breakdown of what to expect this year, such as Exhibition, Red carpet, Runway, Music, the final lap of the #AfricaNextPlussizeModel competition and more.

The members of the panel at the press conference included Founder of PFWA Temi Aboderin-Alao, Yetty Ogunnubi (Head Publicist and CEO. YD Agency), Olubukola Akanbi (PFWAFRICA Project Coordinator), Dumebi Agbakoba (Award Winning Chef), Feyi Luther (Chef), Immaculate Dache (Music Ariste/influencer), Nkechi Blessing (Actress), Monalisa Stephen(Actress), Mor Okonkwo (Music Artiste), Nancy Hustle and Modavi Couture boss.

The Managing Director, Mr Wilson Alao spoke about the rationale behind the#AfricaNextPlussizeModel modelling competition, the process of model casting and their training.  The project coordinator Miss Olubukola Akanbi talked about being part of the plus size movement.

The PFWAFRICA Influencers who were present also talked about how happy they are to be part of the show and how the message #beautifullyme needs to be preached to women of all sizes.

This year’s edition of PlusSize Fashion Week Africa is set to hold on Saturday, November 3, 2018, and Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the Main Banquet Hall, Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The activities include, Runway shows, Exhibitions, a Masterclass themed “Glow up and Flawless” and a Fashion Gala night where awards will be given to those who have contributed to the PlusSize community in Africa.
