Gay man bags 4 years jail term

A gay man who tried to rape another man has been sentenced to four years in jail.

A gay man is going to jail for attempted rape

According to the police prosecutor, Habib Umar, Lawan was caught red handed committing the act of sodomy with one Tijjani Ibrahim, on January 29, 2016, at Sabon Pegi Quarters in Damaturu, the state capital.

Umar said that one Sabo Haruna, also a resident of the same Sabon Pegi Quarters, reported to the ‘B’ Division Police Station, that he met Lawan, a watchman at Alhaji Mala Jawa’s house at Sabon Pegi, attempting to have anal sex with one Tijjani Ibrahim at the convict’s place of work.

"According to Haruna, Ibrahim resisted the attempt and while attempting to arrest Lawan by the people, the accused injured the complainant in the chin and tried to escape."

When the charges were read to him, Lawan pleaded guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Gambo Hussaini Jumbam, sentenced him to four years imprisonment and also ordered him to pay a fine of N4,000.
