19-yr-old girl commits suicide after boyfriend rejects pregnancy

A teenager whose pregnancy was rejected by the man who got her pregnant has committed suicide.

A 19-year-old lady identified as Chiamaka, has committed suicide after her boyfriend who got her pregnant rejected responsibility.

The sad incident took place  at her parents residence at No. 17 Nwike Street, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, after her parents, on discovering she was pregnant, refused to accept her and told her they would not take care of her and the unborn child since the man responsible had refused to accept it.

Chiamaka who hailed from Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, was said to have informed her boyfriend who also lives in the same compound of the outcome of their sex-capades but the boy denied being responsible for the pregnancy.

A source narrated what led to the young lady taking her own life:

“Chiamaka was not happy that her boyfriend denied her in her trying moment because her parents threatened to sanction her for being pregnant.

The parents were very angry about it because we, the neighbours, always hear when they quarrelled with her because of the pregnancy and she thought the best thing to do was to go to her boyfriend, at least to have a rest of mind.

But she was disappointed that the boy denied her and I think this might be the reason why she hanged herself,” the source said
