Dead fish 'comes back to life' dancing on the plate after it was served in sauce
A footage of a fish coming back to life has gone viral, after being prepared and served in sweet and sour sauce.
The 'Zombie fish' had been cooked and served in sweet and sour sauce, but it was still twitching and dancing as it was put in front of the customer.
But even though it has no body, the head, gills and fin continue to move in an unnerving fashion.
The bizarre video is thought to have been filmed in a restaurant in Yuexiu District, located in the Chinese province of Guangzhou.
Although the video may seem creepy, stories like this are not uncommon. The phenomenon of animals moving after they are dead is seen across species and has a biological explanation.
Muscle cells in freshly dead animals can still receive electrical commands and have enough chemical energy to contract when they come in contact with a stimulus. In the case of fish that seem to come back to life, it’s most likely an automatic reaction to sodium chloride, better known as table salt, NPR reported.
"Most of the tissue in an organism that's recently dead, recently killed, is actually still alive," Charles Grisham, a chemistry professor at the University of Virginia, explained to Discovery News. "In this case, even though the brain function is missing, the tissues will still respond to stimuli."
This is not the only bizarre thing that is happened in recent times. Earlier this week, a fish like human being popularly known as Mammi water was spotted in Poland.
