According to a statement by NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, a suspected drug kingpin, Chukwunwendu Ikejiakwu aka Blessed, who was arrested is said to be the owner of the laboratories and leader of an international drug trafficking organisation.

“He recruits and sponsors drug couriers to China, Malaysia, Turkey and Italy,” the NDLEA said. NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade, said that sufficient evidences had been gathered on the suspect to ease his prosecution.

The agency was said to have apprehended Ikejiakwu in his country home at Ozubulu, Nnewi, Anabra State, after thirteen months of intense surveillance.

Ikejiakwu is the Group Managing Director of Blessed Group of Companies. The NDLEA alleged that he hid under the cover of motorcycle parts business in running a drug cell that had international affiliations. The agency said he paid his couriers an average of $5,000 dollars per trip.
