Singer defends his nudity on "Heya" video

According to the "Nipple" singer, the song is an expression of the environment he lives in, adding that most people are actually bush despite the fact that they live in the city.

Brymo made the disclosure during an interview with Sunday Scoop, explaining his reasons for making the move.

“The song is an expression of my environment. I like to paint as much as I can and I think that most of us are bush people, even though we live in cities.

“The video portrayed a bushman living in the city. If you look around, you wouldn’t see much evidence of civilisation. We did not create most of the things that we use in this country and that’s not good. We need to think.”

When asked what he thought about being accused of using his nakedness as a publicity stunt for the song, Brymol said:

“Even if it’s a publicity stunt, is there anything wrong with that? Singers spend a lot of time and energy in the studio. So is there anything absurd in them drawing some attention to their songs?”

On if he feels underrated in the Nigerian music industry, Brymo said, “No, I am not. People are used to a system and if you want to change them, you have to do it slowly. My albums are doing well and we found that most people, who download my music are in Europe and America. Right now, I have no complaints.”

He went on to dismiss claims that he is unrecognised in the music industry, revealing that despite what people think, he gets a lot of love in Africa.

To those who claim not to have seen him on big stages, he said they have been looking in the wrong places.

“As much as I’m looking at having an international career, Africa will always be my root. I was once signed to an American company, EGM, and I released an album with them but things didn’t go as planned and we went our separate ways,” he stated.

Brymo's video for "Heya" has raised eyebrows since it's release as it shows him wearing a brown leather looking piece covering his groin area and nothing else.
