How Starboy's latest single 'Fever' has all the makings of a hit record

Barely 24 hours following the release of Wizkid's latest single 'Fever', the song has become an instant fan's favourite having all the essence of a hit record.

The singer and songwriter is working his way to dominating the charts and clubs by the end of the year just as he tactfully achieved with the release of 'Manya' late in 2017.

With his project, ''Made in Lagos'' reportedly due before the end of the year, Wizkid dropped two singles in 'Fever' and 'Master Groove' as the first indicators on what to expect, and the reception to one of the songs points that another major hit has been recorded.

Here are five reasons why Wizkid's 'Fever' is an instant hit

1. It is actually good music with a solid production

2018 has seen Wizkid score a number of hit records already, with two songs -'Soco' featuing Terri, Ceeza Milli and Spotless, and 'Fake Love' with Duncan Mighty credited to his name vying for the end of the year honours for 'Song of the year'.

The songs however have all been released under the Starboy monicker and not Wizkid, making this his first official release of 2018 and he sticks to an identical template like his previous songs.

The song is produced by Blaq Jerzee, the man behind the hit single, 'This Year' by Jaywon, with the drums and kicks giving it a great vibe.

2. 'Fever' is a song for everyone

You can never go wrong with a love record and Wizkid's 'Fever' is a song for everyone, it is a lover's anthem with plenty pick-up lines that every young Nigerian can relate with.

'Fever' relies heavily on its melody as Wizkid details a romantic relationship reassuring his love interest that ''Starboy dey for you.''

3. Wizkid's voice is his most potent weapon on a record

A Wizkid song usually draws diverse opinions upon its release, while many are undecided if it is good enough to like or some choose to debate the lyrics, one thing that is however undeniable is his voice which makes up for any lapses on the record.

It has a natural flow that makes it appealing, even when he is not exactly saying anything new.

4. It will always grow on you

Wizkid seems to have mastered the format of turning doubters to believers with his records. The number of those who are usually indifferent thin out in subsequent weeks, with many unable to explain the new found love for the record.

This is a pattern that has played out overtime and it is evident that the formula is at work yet again ahead on the record.

5. The song is simple, both in production and lyrics, stripped of much noise and also quite danceable, making it fit into a playlist both for the lovers and the clubs.
