Speaking exclusively to Pulse on the project, Terry Tha Rapman said:

"This movie idea has been with me for a while. This is however the right time to work on it.

"The Boyz Are Not Smiling will be about my origins as a rapper from Jos and my journey into the entertainment business in Lagos.

"You can call it my biopic, sort of like 8 Mile."

Terry Tha Rapman didn't reveal when principal photography would start on the movie but he told Pulse Movies it would be "pretty soon."
