Azealia Banks has officially lost the plot

Yes it really makes no sense for Banks who has been all about the African-American struggle and racism in the music industry to start bleaching her skin. It is a message to many that the rapper is not proud of her skin colour.

Last month she admitted to bleaching her skin after performing at a concert in Brazil. Despite the criticisms the fiery rapper has continued her new skin regimen.

With the mounting criticism Azealia Banks has gone on to defend her decision to lighten her skin. "I don't really think it's important to discuss the cultural significance of skin bleaching anymore because just as African-American people in this world, or Black people, you assimilate" she said in an Instagram video last week.

"There are things that you accept not out of necessity, but things that become the norm because it's just happening all of the time" she further said.

I don't know if this makes sense to you but it doesn't to me. Azealia Banks has never portrayed herself as the politically correct rapper. Her big mouth has gotten her into trouble more often than not. On Wednesday, May 11, 2016 Azealia Banks dissed former after she accused him of stealing some of her concepts for his latest video ‘Like I Would’.

In her tirade she called Malik a ‘fa**ot’, and a ‘sand ni**a’. The female rapper had a full day as she slammed Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and unashamedly exchanged words with 14-year-old actress Skai Jackson.

This has been the highlight of her year. After feeling remorseful she apologized and promised to turn a new leaf. On June 10, 2016, Banks wrote an apology letter to her fans on her Facebook page. In the apology she vowed never to use a homophobic slur again. She started her apology by writing "Ok, i'm never saying the word F****T ever again. The amount of people that get hurt when i use the word vs. the amount of people i've said it to are just not worth it."

Well her erratic behaviour has moved to another part of her complex make up. Why should a woman who has been a champion of black female rights is now bleaching her skin? Isn't that hustling backwards? Doesn't this defeat her purpose.

Azealia Banks has lost the plot. Her bleaching gaffe just proves that she is a misdirected soul in need of help. Hopefully someone will lend a helping hand. Right now Azealia Banks has shot herself in the leg.
