Celebrity South Africa couple split!

South Africa couple AKA and DJ Zinhle have decided to call off their relationship.

The pair who started dating circa 2013 released a joint statement today (August 26) confirming their split.

"After a great deal of thought, reflection and discussion we have decided to end our relationship of three years. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it" read the statement.

"We both wish nothing but a great future for each other and remain dear and trusted friends as well as co-parents to our wonderful baby Kairo, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We both deeply care for each other and remain close friends."

This split can be described as shocking. Last weekend the rapper paid 'damages' to the female DJs family. According to Zulu tradition a man who impregnates a woman outside of wedlock will pay damages to her family. AKA had to pay a cow, goat and cash to the Jiyanes for impregnating Zinhle out of wedlock.

Zinhle's uncle Mbongeni Jiyane was impressed by AKA and hoped the 'Levels' rapper would pay her bride price (lobola) soon.

Well AKA won't be doing that anytime soon. Both Zinhle and AKA have asked for privacy and will not be granting interviews.
