Students of this school protest over nonpayment of their lecturers' salary

The students took to the street singing they want their lecturers salaries paid.

The protesting students according to Daily Trust started the protest from their school premises to Ibrahim Taiwo road, Unity area and to Government House.

Accompanied by men of the Department of State Security, the students carried placards chanting aluta songs asking the government to pay their lecturers salaries.

The protests, however, led to a crisis as men of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police Force reportedly released tear gas on the protesting students which made the students retaliate by throwing stones at the policemen.

Similarly, a week after striking lecturers at Abia State Polytechnic disrupted matriculation ceremony to protest the nonpayment of their 11 months salary arrears, the polytechnic students have joined in the protest in support of their lecturers.

The students on Monday, April 16, 2018 marched along Aba-Owerri road asking the school management to pay their lecturers arrears and dues to enable them to resume classes
