52-yr-old school owner nabbed for raping 5-yr-old pupil, others

A 52-year-old school proprietor, Isaac Ikiabeke, has been arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 5-year-old pupil of his school.

A 52-year-old school proprietor, Isaac Ikiabeke, has been arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 5-year-old pupil of his school.

Ikiabeke was charged with one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with pupils of his school, Brighter Glory School, located on Etunrere Street, Ikorodu area of Lagos, Punch reports.

He allegedly raped his victim after school hours, about 10 separate times according to his unnamed victim.

“He has been doing it for some time. He has done it more than 10 times," she said.

I could not tell anybody because he said if I did he would beat me.”

The toddler also alleged that there were other victims.

"I am not the only one.

"He does it with some of us after school hours."

The victim's shocked grandfather expressed shock and disappointment.

“Pat and her younger sister stay with me and they attend the school," he said.

"I never suspected anything initially, except that I observed she would be holding her belly and turning on the bed and when I asked her what happened, she would say she was having stomach-ache.

“It was one of her classmates that told me what the school owner had been doing to her and I quickly went to report at the station, after which he was arrested.”

According to police sources quoted in reports, there were complaints from two victims, including a three-year-old who has been hospitalized following the assault.

“There were actually two pupils that we were told he raped," the police source said.

"The atrocity had been going on for a long time before he was arrested."

When he was arraigned, Ikiabeke pleaded not guilty.

The presiding magistrate adjourned the case till the 10th of August for further hearing.
