Over 14,000 candidates to struggle for 4000 admission slots in FUTA

About 15,000 candidates are going to sit for post UTME screening at the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

The Post UTME screening which starts from Monday, August 6, to Thursday, August 9, 2018, will see over 14,000 candidates jostling for 4000 admission slot in the university, Punch reports.

According to the Chairman of FUTA Admissions Committee and Deputy Vice-Chancellor [Academic], Prof. Olatunde Arayela, over 20,000 candidates chose FUTA as their first choice university in the  2018 UTME and more than 13,000 scored 180, which is the minimum requirement for the screening exercise.

Arayela also added that about 2,000 admission seekers who applied for a change of institution chose FUTA after their UMTE.

Speaking about how the university would conduct the exam, Arayela said “We are set for the screening exercise. We have made adequate arrangement and by the Grace of God, everything will run smoothly as in the previous years.  As an institution, we have established a tradition of excellence and merit in FUTA and this will guide the final selection of candidates who will ultimately secure admission into any of our 43 academic programmes”.

The Chairman, therefore, urged the candidates, their parents and guardians to obey the rules guiding the post UTME screening adding that the selection process would be strictly based on merit.

FUTA is reportedly one of the best tech-based universities in Nigeria

In May, two students of the university reportedly that can reduce the risk of blood clot or deep vein thrombosis.

The students, Taofeek Olalekan Afeez and Alayande Abdulwaheed Abiola, are said to have designed the device for the Microsoft Nigeria Imagine Cup.

According to Daily Trust, the students who are Physics Electronics & Electrical Electronics emerged the winner of the Microsoft Nigeria Imagine Cup.

The students will, however,  be representing Nigeria at the regional finals of the biggest software competition for undergraduates in the world.
