Shehu Bows Out... As Zuru Becomes New UDUS VC
Prof. Zuru has been appointed the new VC of Usman Danfodio University
Prof. Zuru was on Friday confirmed as the new Vice Chancellor of the University by the Governing Council.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the 127th meeting of the Council Friday, Pro-Chancellor of the University and Chairman of the Council, Dr. George Egabor, said Zuru’s appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Vice Chancellor.
Student Pulse was told that Zuru contested alongside two other professors and was declared winner after scoring the highest votes.
Prof. Zuru has a lot of administrative experience, being the current Vice Chancellor of Kebbi State University of Technology Alero, Kebbi state.
He also has a long history with UDUS and was at one time the Head of Department of Pure and applied Chemistry.
End Of The Shehu Era
A source at the institution, Abdulbaqi Jari, told Student Pulse that the outgoing VC, Shehu who has been the Vice Chancellor from 2009, will be sorely missed after a development-filled tenure that leaves a big shoe for the new VC.
"The new vice chancellor is going to inherit a lot of on going projects as some have been virtually completed awaiting commissioning," Jari added.
"Is our prayer that may Almighty Allah guide him and give him the ability to deliver on the aspirations of the university."
He said Shehu’s exit signals the end of a history making era at UDUS.
