Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo

The founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) recently tried to make a case for this controversial principle.

In an Instagram video uploaded by Daddy Freeze,he is seen insisting that seeds work, going as far as to say that he would maintain his stance even if God says otherwise.

Pastor Fatoyinbo said, "If God appears to me and tells me seed does not work, hmm, I will tell God thank you," laughs then adds, "because seeds works."

He goes on to advise his congregation to give their seeds willing saying, "And please don't come out, out of compulsion, come out because you are convinced of the Lord."

Two days after this video appeared online, another one showed up. This time, the COZA pastor is seen asking students to sow a seed of N500K.

In the video, he encourages the students in the congregation to start early adding, "offering is what you offer, a seed is what the Lord demands. N500,000 is something you need to release your faith for and give."

This was received negatively by many people including celebrities who criticised him for asking students to give such a huge sum of money.

Rev Funke Adejumo

The female preacher has been seen on several occasions defending seed sowing while asking people to give huge amounts of money in both Dollars and Naira.

While asking for a seed of N1M, she explained that doing this would lead to stupendous wealth.

She said, "I've not taken permission from Pastor Poju because I am freeing my spirit in this house. I want to help some of you to move to your next level financially and I want to help you in 2018. This is for you to get stupendous wealth."

In another video, she asks for a special seed noting that offerings are what determine the giver's financial level.

According to her,"offering time is not blessing time, it is judgment time. That is when your financial level is determined. So, if you always hide because you are an usher or in the choir, you don't give offering, you can never be financially prosperous."

Her demands for seeds have made her a target for critics who went as far as to launch petitions to ban her from going abroad. Counter-petitions were launched in her favor by supporters.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo

The founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) made the news in 2017 for asking his members to pay $1000 or N1000 for every year that they have lived on earth.

In the video, which went viral, he argued that doing would lead to blessings.

He was immediately attacked by well-known religious critic Daddy Freeze, who reacted via his Instagram account.

He said, "Nigerians, their IQ of 67 and their men of God. Come and give a thousand dollars for every year you have lived?? Can you show me anywhere in the Bible where Jesus used this 'fundraising' approach? I remember 5 loaves and 2 fishes but 1000 dollars???????"

Seed sowing is not the only principle Pastor Ashimolowo believes in. He is also a firm believer in tithing, another controversial subject for Nigerian Christians.

In an exclusive interview with Pulse, he said it is "biblical and fundamental" adding that "some things are biblical but they are not fundamental.

He explains, "Jesus is the High priest after the ORDER of Melchizedek. Melchizedek is the man who received tithe from Abraham. If Jesus is the high priest after Melchizedek, He must do what Melchizedek did. If we don't, we are out of order."
