I think about Eve in the scripture, she went through a great disappointment. Her son Cain, killed her son Abel. That was the first murder in the bible.

I am sure, Eve like any mother would have been heartbroken and devastated. She would have thought, God how could you let this happen to me?
I like what Eve said in Genesis 4:25. God has appointed another seed for me. She was saying, I do not understand it, it does not make sense, but I know that God is still in control. This is not the end, he has appointed another seed.
God is saying, when you go through things that you do not understand, it is not the end, God is going to appoint another seed.

The reason God says seed, is because seed represents the future. It indicates what is coming.
