The Jamaican has endured an injury-riddled year and recently announced he would not compete in the Commonwealth Games in the same Scottish city later in July.

Blake's decision was based on the fact he was still searching for full fitness, while he also stated a desire to focus on the 2016 Olympic Games.

The 24-year-old may face another extended stint on the sidelines, though, after falling to the track in the men's 100-metre sprint, won by compatriot Nickel Ashmeade in 9.97 seconds.

Usain Bolt was absent for the race, as were American stars Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay.

Blake was only through just over half the race before he clutched at his hamstring and fell, as Ashmeade pipped Michael Rodgers (also 9.97secs) in a photo finish.

Jamaican pair Novlene Williams-Mills (50.60secs) and Stephenie Ann McPherson (50.98secs) were third and fourth respectively.

Puerto Rican Javier Culson continued his excellent season with another men's 400m hurdles win. Culson finished in a time of 48.35secs, enough to edge American duo Ashton Eaton and Michael Tinsley.
