Tito Rabat is looking forward to the challenge of moving up from Moto2 with Marc VDS and competing in MotoGP.

The Spaniard has been unable to defend his Moto2 title but can still claim second spot if he overturns Alex Rins' eight-point advantage in the final race of the year in Valencia.

It will be Rabat's last ride in the intermediate class before he and his team progress to MotoGP for the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old - who has missed the last three races with a wrist problem - has enjoyed his time in the second tier and is excited by the prospect of racing at the highest level.

"I have completed many years in Moto2. It is not easy to do that," Rabat told Omnisport.

"I am happy to be one of the drivers with more poles and victories in Moto2. Now I have to focus on MotoGP.

"We have to be strong - more than in Moto2. It is a new start and we need a lot of energy to learn everything."

The 2015 MotoGP season is set for a tense finale with Movistar Yamaha team-mates Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo going head-to-head for the title - though the former will start from the back of the grid in Valencia after being deemed to have kicked Marc Marquez off his bike in Sepang.

Rabat believes they have earned their place at the top of the rankings over the course of the campaign.

"Marc, Lorenzo, Rossi and [Dani] Pedrosa - I think they have been the best ones during the whole season, even though Pedrosa had injuries," he added.

"Now he has won two races and reached the podium, so these four were the best.

"I also think [Maverick] Vinales - it is his first year with the Suzuki and he did very well.

"In MotoGP we all know that the opportunity to be there and reach some podiums is a job well done."
