Arsenal needs Wenger out ASAP

This opinion piece explains that Arsenal needs a change but not on the field of play, rather in the dugout.

Over the course of the last five seasons, there has been a particularly repeated cry from Arsenal Supporters, “Wenger Out”.

Supporters of the club have made this known via display of placards at the Emirates stadium or trending the hash-tag on various social media platforms, as they made a case for the replacement of French manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal changes on the field

When Arsene Wenger forked out an excess of 56 million pounds to bring in Gabonese Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, coupled with earlier acquisition of Armenian International Henrikh Mkhitaryan, one would honestly thought that there was a cure for terminal disease cancer, at least that was what the jubilations of Arsenal supporters led us to believe.

Some even compared Aubameyang to Arsenal’s all-time goal scorer Thierry Henry, and that his acquisition would bring about a better Arsenal side.

Well, let’s fast forward to weeks later, the Gunners, having being knocked out out of the FA Cup, lost the final of the and are 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham, so it's safe to say there will be no ChampionsLeague football next season barring a miracle in the Europa League.

The Change Arsenal need

Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan are not bad players to bring in, but the belief that they will turn around Arsenal’s fortunes is a pure misconception.

If Arsenal manages to bring in five-time world players of the year Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, they will struggle for form and consistency and eventually become average players like Calum Chambers.

Arsene Wenger must go

If the signs were not clear earlier, it should be crystal now, Arsenal can no longer progress under Wenger. (Fact)

This team struggles for consistency, cohesion and motivation, this team needs rejuvenation and Arsene Wenger is not the man to provide that after 20 years at the helm.

Conclusion

Manchester United could have continued with Louis Van Gaal, Manchester City could have continued with Manuel Pellegrini, but looking to the future sacrifices had to be made.

History will remember Wenger as the man who revolutionized Arsenal in the 90’s, as the French man has served the North-London club well, but a change must be made and it is not on the pitch but in the dugout, so it is time to say Goodbye.
