Arsene Wenger fires Thierry Henry over Sky Sports role

 
 

After getting his UEFA A Licence coaching badge, Henry was appointed into Arsenal academy’s coaching crew.

The club great who has his own statue at the Emirate Stadium was ordered by Wenger to quit his role as a pundit for or lose his appointment.

According to reports form the English media, Arsenal manager thinks his former striker is not allowed to work with the club during the week and go on TV at weekends to criticize their players.

Henry according to the report was not happy with Wenger’s order and is leaving Arsenal to continue his coaching requirements at another club.

The former France international Henry, who is doing his Pro Licence coaching badge was offered a paid role of assistant manager with the Under 18s by academy head Andries Jonker.

Henry is believed to £4million a year at Sky and had offered to work for nothing for Arsenal with his proposed salary to be split among other academy coaches at Arsenal.

Wenger it is believed first frowned at Henry’s punditry at Sky when he in April 2015 said that Arsenal would struggle to win the Premier League with Olivier Giroud as first-choice striker.

The Arsenal manager was also upset last season when his former remarked on Sky that he had never known Arsenal fans to be so unhappy.
