Giannis and ladder incident
After the game, Antetokoumpo decided to work on his game at the Well Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
Video of the confrontation with the arena staff went viral as Giannis was interrupted with a ladder trying to practice his free throws.
The video went viral as many did not know what had happened to cause such a reaction from Anetotokoumpo.
Giannis accused of being fake humble
Following the viral video, there were many critics of Antetokoumpo for his reaction to the arena staff.
The Greek Freak is known to be a humble superstar whose Nigerian immigrant parents moved abroad in search of a better life.
Antetokoumpo's character was questioned with several negative comments even branding him as fake humble.
Giannis and Harrell
According to a report by the Athletic, Antetokoumpo was working on his free throws after the game when Montrezl Harrell a bench player for the 76ers was screaming at him.
After he made a free throw, Harrell took his ball which sparked the altercation.
Antetokoumpo demanded for the ball but Harrell refused. He then went to bring two more balls to continue practicing but the arena crew brought a ladder to the stand where he was shooting.
In trying to explain that he was not yet done with his workout, Antetokoumpo pushed the ladder and a viral video was made.
In a report by ESPN, Antetoukoumpo explained his version of events highlighting the role of Harrell and the arena crew.
He said, "I've never tried to disrespect anyone in any way, shape or form.
"I feel like today is just an unfortunate event that took place. I respect every player. I know some players don't play now, they want to get some extra work, want to work on their skills and stuff, and I said, obviously we can shoot together.
"They said, they told me no, this is their court, I should leave. I was like, I have three more free throws, I was at seven, I want to try to make 10 in a row.
"I shot my eighth one. Came and took the ball away from me and I was very surprised. I feel like it's very unprofessional. I would never take the ball away from a professional athlete when he's trying to do his job."
Giannis on the video of him pushing the ladder
Antetokoumpo explained the video that went viral did not capture the entirety of what happened and it should not be used as a testament to his character off the court.
He added, "At the end of the day, people are going to make things look the way they want it to look.
"Did I mean to push the ladder all the way down? I totally did not. I just tried to, I think I pushed it and it got caught and fell. But people are going to make it look the way they want it to look.
"I know what happened. I think there's cameras all over this court. We can show the whole incident from people coming and getting the ball, people getting in my face. I don't want to get into all those things.
"I don't know if I should apologize because I don't feel like I did anything wrong, except the ladder just fell. I feel like it's my right for me to work on my skills after a horrible night at the free throw line. I think anybody in my position that had a night like me would go out and work on his free throws.
"And if they didn't, they don't really care about their game."
Antetokoumpo is now expected to return to action when the Bucks welcome the Portland TrailBlazers in their next fixture scheduled for Monday, November 21, 2022
