This is not the Serena Williams the world knows.

The tennis star who has dominated her colleagues in the court was looking very different from the one we see on the court.

For the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year gala at Pier Sixth at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan, Serena Williams arrived in stunning fashion elegantly dressed in a black gown.

The 33-year-old rocked a choppy brunette bob, red lips, fancy timepiece, and a glittery gold manicure.

Serena was named Sports Illustrated Sports Person of the Year 2015, but she said she didn’t believe when she heard.

“When I first learned that I would be Sportsperson, yes Sportsperson of the Year, I could not believe it,” Williams told the crowd.

“It had been over 30 years since the last time SI had recognised a woman for being Sportsperson of the Year.

“I think it was [track star] Mary Decker, to be exact. So for all the ladies out there, "Yes we can do it!"

“My hope by winning this award [is that it] can inspire many, many, many more women - in less than 30 years, of course - to stand right here on this podium and accept another Sportsperson of the Year,” she continued.

Supporting her at the gala was her mother Oracene Price and older sisters Venus Williams and Lyndrea Price.
