'The Queen of Katwe' trailer is out and our slay queen Lupita Nyong’o is in it

We’ve been excited for The Queen of Qatwe movie adaptation since we heard our slay queen, woman crush all day everyday, Lupita Nyong’o will be starring in the film.

The film is based on the inspiring true story of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan teen chess prodigy who becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her performances at World Chess Olympiads.

The story was so popular, it was featured on ESPN magazine article selected by Dave Eggers for The Best American Nonrequired Reading and a finalist for a National Magazine Award.

David Oyelowo will star as the man who mentors Phiona, while Lupita Nyong’o will play her mother.

Charity Rose Pimer will play Phiona herself.

Opening September 23, 2016 , “The Queen of Katwe” is destined to be one of this year's big hits.
