R&B singer says royalties should be paid to ID Cabasa and his generation for Gongo Aso album

Banky W has come out to say record producers should be paid royalties every time their music is played.

The singer spoke about this at the Nigerian Entertainment Conference Live 4 edition.

He used ID Cabasa as an example saying he should be getting paid from the back-end for his input in 9ice's "Gongo Aso" album.

"I think that the structure of the music business in general needs a lot of fixing in Nigeria. We all need to come together and fix the structure. Everybody in the industry value change.

Yes the artistes record, the producer should be getting money on the back-end. They should be getting royalties for every of their music that’s played.

I always like to use 9ice’s Gongo Aso album as example. In my opinion, it’s one of the albums that’s ever come out of Nigeria in our history." Mr Wellington said.

This he believes if addressed would go a long way in developing the Nigerian music industry.
