A member of Fiji's 2013 Rugby League World Cup squad, he is now set to turn his attention to union, which he??initially played in his homeland and Australia??before linking up with??the Roosters in December 2008.

"I'm excited and looking forward to come to Grenoble in a few months," Waqa, who has signed a two-year deal,??told his new club's official website.

"I thank??Grenoble for the trust they have??placed in me.??It will be a challenge, since I have not played rugby for several seasons, but I hope the transition will be rapid for me."

Waqa also thanked his current team, adding: "The Raiders have been great for my career and my family and it has been a hard decision for me to make.

"I'm looking forward to finishing my time with the Raiders on a high and I'll keep working hard at training with the boys and hopefully get a chance to play again for the Raiders before I leave the NRL."

Grenoble coach Bernard Jackman expects Waqa to make a significant impact.

"He has the X factor," said Jackman. "He is very tough, very aggressive, very fast.

"He can play in positions 11 to 15, but it is on the wing where he can become a star in France."
